Matt and Richard talk to Prof Goodhill from the Queensland Brain Institute and his work with Zebra Fish and mapping the brains of these fish and learning how neural networks develop.

Professor Goodhill's lab, which Matt was lucky enough to see first hand, is looking at how brains process information, particularly during development. Part of this research is about how growing nerve fibres use molecular cues to make guidance decisions, how map-like representations of visual inputs form in the optic tectum and visual cortex, and how these maps code sensory information. This is done partly by an amazing new microscope they are using that produces a high definition, real-time, look into a working brain.
